PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS FOR A BUSINESS

June 17, 2017

Especially for smaller business, photography plays a large role within the marketing scenario. The use of imagery can enliven your website and social media feeds and make your business stand out of the crowd. The perfect image can increase your engagement vastly, so I have come up with yet another, short list of tips and tricks, this time regarding photography tips, to help guide your business in the direction of success!

Equipment

First things first, you will need to invest in a good quality camera or failing that, hire a photographer who already has said equipment. I would personally recommend either a Canon Rebel or Nikon D3100 as these are good quality DSLR cameras that don’t cost too much of a fortune. Once you have bought a quality camera, spend some time getting to know the ins and outs of the device before you start taking imagery for your company.

Subject

The subject of your images is another important factor. Make sure the images relate to your business!

Story

Try to tell a story throughout your photos to get your audience interested in a set of images. Regular product shots are still a necessary part of marketing your brand, but photos that help to tell a story of your business and customers are an easy way of grabbing other users attention. This will boost your engagement on social media and your business’s website if you give people something they’d be interested into view. These types of images work especially well when posted on social media platforms.

Lighting

One tip I would advise is making the most out of natural light. Natural light is almost always a better option for the more realistic photos than a camera flash, especially for beginner photographers. If possible, try shooting outside. Try taking your products/service outside or failing that, try to let in as much natural light as possible to get the best shots.

Angles

Don’t be afraid to experiment and shoot shots from different angles and compositions, as this might just be the ticket to gaining more engagement around your business.

Summary

Taking a great photo and sharing it with your audience is one thing, but making sure that your business continues to gain engagement is key to climbing the social ladder. Use a large variety of different shots from many angles to give your viewers an insight to what your business is about. Don’t be afraid to try something new and different!
