I think by now it’s very clear that the number one reason we all go online these days is Social Media. Social Media has come on leaps and bounds since the days of Myspace and Bebo, and since those days’ social media has become more than just a way to communicate with your friends, you can now upload videos, post images, share live video with your friends, check the latest football scores, keep up to date with trending topics from across the globe and so much more. But what benefits do social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn hold for businesses? Carry on reading to find out how it will help your business.

The first benefit of social media that I am going to talk about is also one of the most obvious, and that is that it will increase your businesses exposure. Social media will expose your company or service to new eyes, with just one click your message will be sent to a multitude of people. Not only that but social media can also help you to find customers that are already talking about your business, how you ask? Just try searching your company name into Facebook or Twitter, this will allow you to see live updates of people talking about your business – Information you can leverage to reach even more people.

The next benefit follows on from the one I have just talked about and that is that social media will give you insights into what your audience’s interests are (besides you of course). Getting to know your audience is a very necessary step towards your end goal, why? It’s simple to pump out advert after advert, but if no one is bothered about what you are posting what’s the point? Having the knowledge of your customer’s interests can go a long way to finding out how to advertise to them, this will help you discover creative ways to sell to your audience for example, let’s say you’re a sports clothing company, a way you could advertise is through offering them a deal so an example could be “The first 50 people who purchase any Adidas football shirts from us will get this season’s Champions League football for free”. This is a targeted ad as you know that these people will be interested in football as they are buying a football shirt. Catering and targeting your audience will lead to an increase in your sales.

The final benefit I will be discussing on this blog is leads. Social media is a great inbound marketing tool that can help you collect leads and build your email list. Publishing and posting content that is relevant to your business and audience is a way to attract customers who are truly interested in what your brand or business has to offer. After all, you want your customers to return and the only way they will return is if they are interested in your business and the services and/or products you sell.

I hope you found this article useful and interesting, social media is the number one tool for businesses these days so always make sure yours is up to date, relevant and conveys the message you want to get across to your audience.
